Our Family

By Henry N. Stoddard

Our life story together began in January of 1937. We were both attending BYU, met at a social dance, fell in love, dated for the next three years and were then married in the Salt Lake Temple on March 15, 1940. Since that start there has been a lot of water under the bridge. In this order of sequence, we lived in Provo, Portland, Oregon, Bellingham, Washington, Salt Lake City, Pleasant Grove, La Grande Oregon, Pendleton, Oregon, and I guess our final residence will be Logan, Utah. We have many great and wonderful years and experiences together. I guess the most important of all is the bringing into life and raising seven children. We were blessed with five boys and two girls. In the order of their age they are: Thomas A., Judy Ann, David A., Nancy, Robert A., Kenneth A., and Larry A. All now live in Utah, except Tom, in Lakeview, Oregon, Dave in Pendleton, Oregon, and Larry in Sugar City, Idaho. I guess our greatest blessing of all is that they are all active and participating in the church. Just two weeks ago we were blessed with our 22nd grandchild. We now have 8 granddaughters and 14 grandsons.

Most of our life we spent in Pendleton, Oregon. These were choice years and we were fortunate to be living in an area where our children could have every advantage both in and out of the church. We spent about 27 years in Pendleton. I think it is a little unusual, but our son Dave is now working for the same people that I spent all those years working with in Pendleton. He is in the same office and does business with the same companies.

After moving to Logan in 1973 and working here for the next 7 years, I retired in 1980. We have certainly enjoyed our stay here in Logan. Lots of good people, we have become so close to so many. We enjoy the proximity of the Logan Temple and the Utah State University. This has certainly enriched our lives.

One of our great joys now is to travel and visit with our children and their families. We do love and enjoy the little ones. Our next trip is planned about the 1st of July to participate in the blessing of our newest granddaughter.
