When designing we have many tools at our disposal. Some of the most helpful can be the simplest tools.

While drawing the mechanical chair on paper, a ruler was a powerful tool. It provided the lines for the rectangles and mechanical feel. By sliding the ruler, I was able to create parallel lines to keep the perspective. The ruler isn't a fancy tool, but it was the right tool for mechanical chair design.
